use water that can help temprarily, but u can spray hairspray onto ur brush then comb it through ur hair. that works too.

I like to use pomade its a dry look and very pliable then you can also add hairspray for that lasting hold.

Physique contouring lotion is pretty good, it's a similar consitency as hand lotion (except it goes in your hair obviously) so it isn't too heavy and doesn't weigh hair down.
