How do you use hair curlers to curl your hair?

I wanted small curls, so i bought curlers for that purpose. But its sooo confusing. First it says put setting solution. Whats that? hair gel? hair mousse? and curling it is impossible, my hair is naturally long and straight and theirs a lot of it, when it try rolling each 1 inch section of my hair is rollers, my hair becomes too crowded with curlers and oh how does anyone curl their hair?

follow the directions

you have to use a curling iron. you are not going to get the effect you want with those curlers, plus it sounds like you got perm curlers if its talking about setting solution. go to a salon and get a pro quality curling iron. you won't be dissapointed

Most of the time it doesnt matter,,, just put a stand of hair in the roller curl it up... lock it and leave it over night... itz not that hard to figure out

Setting solution is exactly what it says. It's not gel or mousse, it's something you buy at Sally's or another beauty supply stores.

I have long, thick, straight hair too and I've never gotten curlers to work for me. Using a curling iron is probably your best bet but it's pretty time consuming.

If it says "setting solution," it sounds like you got perm rods instead of curlers. You want small-diameter rollers - about 1/4" to 1/2" in diameter. Just divide the hair into lengths slightly less than the length of the roller and about 1/4" wide and wrap the wet or moistened hair around the roller and roll it from the end down to the scalp. Then set it in place with a bobby pin. The rollers should face downward (hair coming over the top of the roller) and away from your face. You can get "beauty" magazines at the drugstore or newsstand that will have diagrams of how to place the rollers for different hair styles.

Alternatively, you can dispense with the rollers and simply roll the hair around your finger and pin the resulting "curl" with a bobby pin.

wrap your hair around it???

I put my long wet hair in a bun at night, and in the morning it looks very nice.... sometimes I put mousse in it in the morning and scrunch it up

simply put, section off narrow strips of hair and pull the roller to the ends of hair. wrap it around the roller and roll it down the hair. if you have the velcro kind no pin is needed. i love those, get them at dollar store! really no need to sleep with all night! yuck. been there and did that on orange juice cans in the 60's! have used all kinds and below is my favorite and most efficient time saving method.

With velcro kind of curlers...for a quick set to relax kinks and get smooth organized curls (i live in very humid environs) wrap around dry. use blow dryer to get them gently warm. let cool about 15 minutes then unroll. brush or comb to your style. if right after shampoo, blow hair until almost dry. then roll and finish drying. use styling sprays if desired on hands rubbing thru hair before rolling but not necc'y. spray with hairspray to hold set. this lasts several days. good luck!
