dirty hair is best to dye. the oils will help hold in the initial color. so i wouldn't wash it for a few days, then dye it!

The reason you don't want freshly washed hair is because the dyes are formulated to respond best in the presence of natural hair oils. They not only protect the hair from the dyes (preventing frizzies and split ends), but they also give you a finished color that isn't as prone to fading.

Give your hair 24 hours before you color it. Don't rush it and don't try to fake it out with other products. It might not be this coloring where you see the damage, but it would be the next. Ok, listen to tell u the truth it dont matter. Just make sure your hair is completely dry. Also another tip for using box color is to mix three cupfuls of shampoo , because the peroxide vol. is way to strong and thats why people dont get the right color. good luck.
